The Slate is the answer to a specific problem: the morning that starts too cold for a summer jersey and warms up too much for a thermal. Wearing arm warmers is one solution. Wearing one garment instead of three is better.
The Slate’s soft thermal brushed fabric keeps you warm without adding bulk, has enough air permeability to avoid overheating on the climbs, and the muscle-mapping sleeves sit closely without restricting movement. Three rear pockets and reflective detailing.
A full-length YKK zip lets you vent quickly if you hit a sunny patch or a hard climb. The Slate is one of those jerseys you reach for until you realize you’ve reached for it for six months straight.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What temp range is this for?
Best for 8°0–16°C – cool mornings in spring and fall when arm warmers feel fiddly and a summer jersey isn’t enough.
Does it replace arm warmers?
That’s exactly the intention. One garment instead of three means less faff and less kit to carry.
Is it windproof?
Some wind resistance from the brushed fabric, but not a dedicated wind jacket. For sustained cold headwinds, layer a vest on top.
How does sizing run?
True to size. See the fit guide for measurements.
What’s your return policy?
30-day returns. Full details here.
High quality material. I am 5'10". 168 pounds, more on the muscular side. Medium is a snug fit for me but not super tight.
This was my mid layer during the wendigo 100km fatbike race. I had it in between a polyester base layer and a sugoi xc ski jacket. This setup kept me warm for 10 hours with Temps ranging from -27 to -17 Celsius. It did a superb job at wicking moisture away and was mostly dry by the end of my ride with some dampness around the armpit area where there was extra sweat and the xc jacket would have had trouble wicking it off. Like the 3 season bibs, this piece of kit is invaluable. If you ride in any kind of cooler temperatures, get this jersey.
Super comfortable and soft with great range of motion. An excellent choice for riding into the winter. This jersey coupled with Montu's 3 season tights will be my base layer for the Wendigo Ultra 200km fatbike race in February.
very soft material. very comfortable to have another thin baselayer on underneath. so far have ridden with this garment from 0C to 8C and it was just perfect.
