Our process
Every Montu bike is built up in our Arnprior workshop. No assembly lines, no shortcuts — by people who care deeply about how a bike rides.
We don't warehouse finished bikes. When you order a Montu, we start from scratch — using components you've chosen, building up your frame, and dialling in every detail before it leaves the workshop.
That means your bike is set up for your riding style, your fit needs, and your riding style. It also means we stand behind every part of the build.
Step by step
Here's what happens between the moment you reach out and the day your bike is ready to ride.
Before anything gets ordered, we talk. We want to understand how you ride, what roads or terrain you're on, your fit needs, your goals, and your budget. This isn't just a form that you fill — it's a proper back-and-forth so we can make good recommendations.
Based on your consultation, we recommend a frame, groupset, wheels, and finishing kit. You'll get a spec sheet and itemised quote. Nothing is locked in until you're happy — we'll iterate on the spec until it fits your needs and budget perfectly.
We work with trusted suppliers and take lead times seriously — we'll keep you posted on timelines, especially for custom paint or specialty components.
We don't rush this part. Every fastener is torqued to spec, every detail given due attention.
Before your bike leaves the workshop, we go through a complete checklist — If conditions outside allow, we do a test ride. If something's not right, it gets fixed before you see it.
Local customers are welcome to pick up in Arnprior and save shipping charges. We'll walk you through the fit and setup in person. We also ship across Canada, carefully packed so your build arrives in perfect condition. Either way, we're available for any follow-up questions after your first rides.
Custom building isn't just about component choice. It's more than the sum of its parts. You get a bike tailored to how you like to ride.
The same person who specs your bike builds it. There's no handoff, no miscommunication, and someone you can talk to if anything ever needs attention.
We consider your fit before the spec is finalised — stem length, bar width, saddle height — so the bike works for your body, not the other way around.
We use quality tools and consumables — because that's what makes a bike feel right and last a long time.
Arnprior, Ontario
Montu is a small operation in the Ottawa Valley. That's a deliberate choice. Staying small means we can be thoughtful about every build and every customer relationship.
It also means when you call or email, you're talking to the people actually building your bike — not a support inbox.
